Following are the top 35 largest asset managers in the world ranked by total AUM as of June 30, 2012. BlackRock, Inc. (NYSE: BLK) is the largest asset manager in the world with assets under management of US$3.56 trillion. BlackRock was founded in 1988 and is headquartered in New York City, United States. The company acquired Barclays Global Investors (BGI) in December 2009.
